IV Therapy FAQ| Village IV Therapy, Union Square NYC
Answers to the questions we hear most often from clients before their first visit to our Greenwich Village clinic.
What is IV therapy?
IV therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, and other nutrients directly into your bloodstream through a small intravenous line. Because it bypasses digestion, your body may absorb these nutrients more directly than it would from food or oral supplements. At Village IV Therapy, every drip is administered by licensed clinical staff at our clinic near Union Square.
Is IV therapy safe?
When administered by licensed medical professionals in a proper clinical setting, IV therapy has an established safety profile. Before your treatment, a member of our clinical staff reviews your health history to help confirm a drip is appropriate for you that day, and every visit is overseen by our supervising physician. As with any medical procedure, individual risk factors vary, so we encourage you to share your full health history with our team.
How long does an IV drip take?
Most IV drips at our Greenwich Village clinic take about 45 to 60 minutes from start to finish. Wellness shots are much quicker, typically under 15 minutes since there's no drip involved. NAD+ IV is the exception: it's given as a slow infusion over about two hours for comfort and tolerability.
Does insurance cover IV therapy?
Elective IV wellness and vitamin therapy is generally considered an out-of-pocket service rather than a medically necessary treatment for a diagnosed condition. As a result, it's typically not reimbursed by health insurance. This is standard across IV wellness clinics and isn't specific to Village IV Therapy. We don't bill insurance for these services; payment is handled directly with our clinic.
How do I pay, and what payment methods do you accept?
Payment is due at the time of service, and we accept major credit and debit cards. We also offer membership and package options for clients who visit regularly. Ask our team about current options at your visit. IV therapy and wellness injections at our clinic are an out-of-pocket service.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
We recommend booking in advance to help secure your preferred time slot, and same-day appointments are often available. Walk-ins are welcome at our Greenwich Village clinic based on availability, though booking ahead is the best way to make sure a treatment chair is open when you arrive.

Who administers the treatments?
All treatments are administered by licensed registered nurses under the oversight of our supervising physician. Village IV Therapy is part of Village Group Medical P.C., a licensed medical practice, not a mobile IV service, so every visit takes place in a real clinical setting with dedicated clinical staff.
How should I prepare for my visit?
Arriving well-hydrated and having eaten something beforehand can make your visit more comfortable. We also recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arm for the IV line. Beyond that, there's nothing special you need to do to prepare.
How will I feel afterward?
How you feel after a treatment varies from person to person. Many clients are comfortable returning to their normal daily activities right after their visit, though we recommend listening to your body and resting if you need to.
Can I combine treatments?
Some clients choose to add a wellness shot to an IV drip in the same visit. Our clinical staff can help you decide what combination, if any, makes sense for you when you arrive.
